With only seven active members to count on, the Kiwanis Club of Old Harbour are determined to serve beyond measure. Recently, the group, headed by secretary Kerene Graham, visited the Sunbeam Boys Home for a ‘rap session’.

The interactive discourse saw several speakers addressing the wards of the state on spiritual life, education and career and general life skills issues.

Apart from Graham, presentations were delivered by Conroy Merchant, who is an information technology specialist at the Bank of Jamaica, Rev. Fitzroy Kerr and former Jamaica Defense Force soldier Seston Brown, who is now a student at the University of the Technology.

Though small in numbers, the club has been very active in keeping true to its mandate, said Graham, who is a lecturer at the Portmore Community College.

But for the most part their work has gone unnoticed.

For this year, though, the club secretary says they’ll be focusing on recruitment as several programmes are already in the pipeline.
