A police special ops teams recovered a stolen motor vehicle in dramatic scene on East Street, Old Harbour yesterday.

The incident unfolded at about 3:15 pm along the busy main road in the vicinity of Smith Avenue when a man alighted from a Toyota Axio while police officers gave chase.

Long lines of vehicles were brought to a standstill, while the seemingly unarmed man ran into nearby bushes.

A search of the area was carried out but the cops came up empty handed after roughly two hours.

The officers say their suspicion was aroused when the vehicle sped out recklessly in front of their convoy from a gas station at Gutters, located three miles east of Old Harbour town.

A chase then ensued until the suspect got stuck in traffic.

Subsequent checks on the vehicle from the police command centre revealed that the car was stolen Wednesday night from a Spanish Town address.

The vehicle was handover to the Old Harbour Police Station while the special ops team consisting of roughly 20 officers continue their journey as originally assigned.
