The Old Harbour High School Past Students Association will elect its first executive body during a Special General Meeting on March 23.

The meeting will be convened inside the Selvyn Green Auditorium, starting 4:00 pm and will see past students elect to the positions of president, vice-president, secretary, assistant secretary, treasurer, assistant treasurer and three other members of the Association in “good financial standing”.

Once complete the election of the executive committee will signal the commencing of a new era for the 44 year-old institution. The executive is mandated to “chart the way forward for a sustainable Association” and is expected to play an integral role towards the educational, economical and structural development of the school and its students.

Already some of the most influential figures, who received an education at this established place of learning, have been strongly supporting the renaissance of the past students body.

One of the biggest advocates for the past students association is 1979 Head Boy Dr Keste Miller, an attorney by profession and former Government Senator, who authored the alumni constitution as far back as 1992.

Miller, along with past Vice Principal Melvah Blake among others, have been fully supportive to Florence Rankine, who is the chairperson of the steering committee set up to revive the association.

Rankine, a teacher at Old Harbour High since the late 1980s, is one of four Provisional Vice Principals one of whom will replace Patricia Green who retired last year.
