Rudyard ‘Kippy’ Mears, the People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for St Catherine South West, has added his voice against comments made by political rival Everald Warmington who characterized Member of Parliament Lisa Hanna as “Jezebel”.Warmington made the comment during Tuesday’s sitting of Parliament, drawing the wrath of several government MPs. The firebrand Jamaica Labour Party MP, who is known to make unsavoury remarks in the past, would later retract the statement following the intervention of House Speaker Lloyd B Smith. Despite his retraction, however, it hasn’t prevented many persons, particularly those aligned to the PNP, from chastising the Member of Parliament. In a release to the press this evening Mears, who will challenge Warmington whenever general elections are held this year, says the Parliament should suspend and censure the MP. “I was appalled and outraged when I heard the utterance of MP Everald Warmington in the House of Parliament yesterday, when he addressed his fellow Parliamentarian, the Honourable Lisa Hannah as a Jezebel. What was he thinking and doesn’t he respect our women including his female family members?
