Group A of the SDC T20 Community Cricket remains a wide open race going into Sunday’s final set of matches in the National Round.

The winners of both games, to be played at Port Esquivel, will earn a place in the quarter-finals of the competition with Old Harbour playing Melrose in the 2:00 pm feature after Heartease and Richmond Park face-off at 10:00 am.

The group is interestingly poised after Old Harbour were beaten for the first time this season by Richmond Park in last weekend’s clash at Maxfield Park, while Heartease bounced back from their opening round loss to Old Harbour, beating Melrose by five wickets also at the same venue.

With a win assuring them of a place in the last eight, Old Harbour were dealt a severe blow as they succumbed to a 62-run loss after the St Andrew champions made 162 for eight from their 20 overs.

Andre Bailey (39) was the topscorer against the bowling of Lascele Davis, who bagged three for 35.

In reply the St Catherine representatives were bowled out for 100 with Kemar Isaacs (24) and Erron Downer (15) the only batsmen reaching double figures.

Ralston Nelson claimed two wickets for nine runs while Jermaine Harrison grabbed two for 13, to give Richmond their first win of the round.

Despite playing at home Kingston’s Melrose were outplayed by the visiting Heartease of St Thomas.

The hosts, batting first, made 152 for nine from their allotted overs. But this proved insufficient as the visitors edged home with 154 for five with two balls to spare.
