Warmington, who has been MP of the constituency for two decades and consecutively for the last 17 years since 2002, made the disclosure during Sunday’s Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Area Two Council meeting in Old Harbour.

“This year I put aside $10 million for education, whether you are a PNP (People’s National Party) or JLP, once you have voted you are my responsibility.

“This year we have provided tertiary assistance for 125 students to universities and colleges. We have provided assistance for 386 students to secondary schools and we have provided book vouchers for 1051 students in this constituency because I am here for you.

“I have worked and I will continue to work and when I leave I will work with for who comes after me,” Warmington said from the platform at his constituency base at Marlie Drive, Old Harbour.

During the area council meeting, an annual exercise at the local level for the party, Warmington informed that 12 candidates were interviewed for council seats, while a review of all the constituencies in the council were carried out.

Following the review, he said the team which include JLP deputy leader James Robertson and Dr Sandra Nesbeth, is satisfied with the work being done on the ground as general elections looms in another two years.

“Every election I spent $18 million from my own pocket to win and I spend $12 million for my councillors,” said Warmington who also hinted at retiring from active politics very soon.

“Whoever comes after I will do the same for them for the constituency and the parish council because the Jamaica Labour Party must be dominant in this place.

Area Council Two comprises of constituencies within the parishes of Portland, St Thomas, St Mary and St Catherine.
