24-year-old man gunned down in Marlie Mount
He has been identified as 24-year-old Eaton ‘Tuffy’ Whyte, who is self-employed and from the said unregulated community.
Information is that at about 9:45 pm Whyte was sitting behind an abandoned building previously used as a church, when he was attacked by armed thugs who shot him several times before escaping in a waiting vehicle.
Whyte was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A motive is yet to be established, however, investigators are looking into several possible leads.
Whyte, a father of two children attending primary school, previously resided in Canaan Heights, Clarendon preliminary investigation suggests. A few years ago he moved to Old Harbour, where he operates a dry goods shop at the entrance of the dirt lane in order to take care of his family.
As the main provider of the household, his death on the eve of the start of the new school year, has dealt a knockout blow to the family, Old Harbour News understands.
The Old Harbour police are urging persons with any plausible information that may help them to find the killers to contact the station immediately.
Investigation continues.
