Andrew Ramsay, Peter Robinson capture main titles at Elevation Cycling Club meet
Forrest suffered a fall from his bike while Bailey could not match the pace led by Andrew Ramsay, who won the Elite 1-2 category, the main feature of the day.
Ramsay, of AVR Cycling Club, finished ahead of Intense Cycling Club’s Shaquille Sinclair, while Bradley McFarlane of McForce was third.
In the 3-5 Elite Category which consist of recreational riders, Jason King topped the field, staving off challenges from Raghini Stephenson who finished second and third-placed Damion Needham.
All three riders are not attached to any club at the moment.
National Junior champion Jaequan Dixon, who recently recovered from the flu, had to settle for third in the junior category won by club mate Peter Robinson, who was first across the finish line ahead of Damaine Douglas of McForce Cycling Club.
Robinson and Dixon registered two of three podium finishes on the day for Old Harbour-based Elevation Cycling Club.
In the female category, consisting of only two ladies, both unattached, Melaika Russell beat Jardanio James to the tape in a competitive duel.
Adrian Clarke secured the Masters title for team Intense, as he got the better of Donald Hall, riding unattached, and Mark Henry of Elevation Cycling Club.
And the Super Masters was won by Ashek Hall who beat back the challenge of Kirkland Howell and Marington Hall.
Speaking to Old Harbour News after registering his second career victory at this level, Robinson says he feels excited.
“I felt very proud of myself to be on that podium,” says the 16-year-old Sharper Lane resident. “It took a lot of hard work dedication to be up there [on the podium].
“Going forward my aim and goal is to travel to different countries to compete in races and ride to represent my country, my club and myself.”
A total of 48 registered riders participated.
President Velana Creary is quite satisfied with the club’s second staging of its development race meet series of the year.
“I am pleased with the overall staging of the races. The turnout was good. We saw faces that we have never seen before. Our juniors came home with first and third place and I am happy about that. We had a few bumps in the road but nothing major… it’s all in the sport. We can look forward to another circuit race just like this one in December,” she said.
