Police are still trying to ascertain his identity as well as details surrounding the circumstances that caused his death.
The body was discovered by a passerby who alerted the police.
Under the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC), lands previously occupied by colonial settlers were subdivided by the government and leased to locals for wide-scale farming including livestock and fisheries.
In addition to several ponds, the ADC lands stretches all the way from Bushy Park to Hartlands and consists of several waterways.
The area is also a habitant for several wildlife including wild boars and crocodiles.
Meantime, detectives are trying to determine whether it is the St Catherine North or St Catherine South police divisions that has jurisdiction over the matter. Where the body was found is said to be along an imaginary line bordering the two police divisions.
Old Harbour News was initially informed by the Old Harbour police that the case is being handled by St Catherine North, but was later advised by the latter that the case has been reverted to St Catherine South.
