Based on the current situation the meteorological office is forecasting periods of showers and thunderstorm throughout the entire week.
Due to the slow-moving nature of the system the eastern parishes will be most impacted during the first half of the week before it meanders across the central and western parts of the country.
A flash flood watch is now in effect for the parishes of St Mary, Portland and St Thomas until five o’clock tomorrow (April 19) morning.
“Observational data indicates that moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms have been occurring across sections of St. Mary, Portland and St. Thomas since early this morning,” the Met Office stated in an advisory released this morning.
“The forecast is for periods of showers and thunderstorms, with occasional gusty winds, to continue to affect eastern parishes and gradually extend to central and western parishes this afternoon.”
