Double murder in Old Harbour Market
They have been identified as 24-year-old Oshim Moncrieffe of Claremont Drive, Old Harbour and Donovan Young, 37, otherwise called ‘Fargo’ a higgler of The Aviary Housing Scheme in Old Harbour.
Information obtained so far by Old Harbour News is at about 2:50 pm both Moncrieffe and Young were inside the market when they were approached by two unmasked men who brandished handguns and open fire at them.
They died on the spot, while several 9mm cartridges and .38 spent shells were recovered from the scene by detectives probing the homicide.
Detectives could not say whether or not if both deceased persons were partners since Moncrieffe, whom it is understood was beside young at the time, was chased and shot several times as well.
The men then escaped via the back of the market.
This is the second murder in Old Harbour in recent weeks following the killing of Romaine ‘Pancho’ Robinson, who was gunned down at Lincoln Plaza on April 22, 2019.
Commander in charge of the police sub-division of Old Harbour DSP Damion Manderson is appealing to the public to come forward with any information they believe could help the investigators.
He said the manner in which the killers executed the act is an indication of their level of organization.
The killers he said acted shortly after the police would have vacated the space to patrol other areas in the town.
Speaking to Old Harbour News Manderson noted that based on information gathered so far that Young was the target and may have had some association with men of a criminal background.
“It is purported that he (Young) would have been shot or shot at or would have been implicated in previous murders or shootings in the past,” DSP Manderson said.
Investigation continues.
