The latest homicide occurred about 8:20 pm in the vicinity of the community's football field, the police have reported.

Dead is 23-year-old Kevon McLeod, more popularly known as 'Chin'.

According to the police, McLeod was at his home when residents heard loud explosions sounding like gunshots. He was then found dead lying on his back with gunshot wounds to the head and upper body.

On a slightly different version of the events, however, Old Harbour News understands that the deceased was not at his home but rather at a nearby tenement yard helping his friends jerk chicken, when met his fatal end.

Sources say a man entered the premises and placed an order which McLeod began to prepare. Whilst in the process of preparing the order, the man pulled a gun and shot McLeod several times before escaping on a motorcycle waiting on the outside.

The police were summoned following which the body was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where McLeod was officially pronounced dead by a doctor on staff.

Investigators probing the killing are yet to establish any motive, while residents in the area remain tightlipped.

But based on preliminary investigation so far the police disclosed to Old Harbour News that McLeod and others have been under the police's radar in relation to several alleged break-ins of homes, shops and bars reportedly committed in the area.

Detectives say they are pursuing several leads at the moment.

Scene of crime experts were also called in where blood and ballistic samples were retrieved with the hope of assisting detectives to solve the second murder committed in 10 days in the Old Harbour police zone.
