Following last week’s system glitch, the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising income tax filers that the deadline to file final income tax returns for 2024 and estimated returns for 2025, has been extended to Tuesday March 18, 2025.

This means that as all companies, partnerships, self-employed individuals, employed individuals with other sources of income, and all other categories of income tax filers, must file their returns by 11:59 p.m. on March 18 to avoid interest and penalties. all income tax returns must be filed online via Tax Administration Jamaica’s online tax portal at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm. The extension also applies to all tax returns that would have been due today, March 17, such as assets tax.

Additionally, taxpayers are reminded that the deadline for the February (S01) Statutory Deductions, as well all taxes that would have been due on March 14, was also extended to Tuesday March 18, 2025.

The TAJ noted its revenue administration information system (RAIS) is being reconfigured, to adjust the filing due dates for payroll taxes and income tax returns from March 14 and March 17, respectively, to Tuesday, March 18, 2025. This means that persons who filed their payroll returns after the original March 14 due date, may be seeing the late penalty being reflected. However, once the date change is configured in the system, the charges will be automatically reversed.

Persons are reminded that although all returns must be filed online, clients have a suite of electronic payment options at their fingertips to make payments conveniently, securely and quickly. These include the TAJ direct funds transfer process for business-related tax payments from a customer’s bank to TAJ’s bank accounts. Additionally, customers can make payments via the tax authority’s website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a credit card, banking card with credit card features.

Taxpayers can also utilize Scotiabank online and mobile app, in addition to being able to make tax payments via the National Commercial Bank (NCB), as the respective clientele are able to use their online banking platforms by adding TAJ as a payee.
