Innocent man loses life in senseless and brazen gun attack in Old Harbour
One man, an innocent bystander sitting in inside a bar, had his life snuffed out as four armed men open gunfire while chasing a man.
The dead man has been positively identified as Tashawn Douglas, a labourer from Church Pen.
Another man who was with Douglas at the time was shot and injured and in hospital where he’s receiving treatment. His condition is unknown at this moment.
Information released by the police is that the shooting stemmed from a dispute carried over from yesterday evening between a group of men and another man who hails from Clarendon.
About 8:20 this morning the Clarendonian was in the transportation park when he was approached by four men “who demanded money from him”, stated the police.
“He refused and an argument developed between him and the men,” the report continued. “During the argument the men pulled handguns and pointed them at him and he ran in a bid to escape injury.”
At this point the men began firing, missed their intended target, while hitting the two men inside the wooden bar.
The incident understandably sent commuters scampering for cover, while traffic backed up for hours.
A video has since emerged showing Douglas lying inside the pub on his back and blood coming from his head.
The police further stated that the man ran to the Old Harbour Police Station and has filed a formal report that the men have been trying to extort him. Based on his statement to the police he
“was targeted on previous occasions by men in the bus park for money and he constantly refused, the most recent of which was about 5:00pm Tuesday June 14, 2022. His refusal is likely to be what led to this recent attack”.
It’s the second brazen attack committed in the Old Harbour town within the last four days.
Last Saturday about 6:00 pm, Delano ‘Max’ Williams, a resident of Spring Village and renowned auto body repair specialist, was gunned down by three heavily armed gangsters while he was drinking at a bar on Ascot Drive.
Williams’ death – the police have now revealed – is connected to an intra-gang feud among members of the feared One Order gang based in Spanish Town, the parish capital.
Persons with any information regarding this murder are being urged to contact the police.
