Island Farm birthday party turns deadly
The incident occurred at about 12:20 am today while a birthday party was in session during which an altercation developed involving 30-year-old resident Navado Dennis, who was shot dead by an off duty police.
Allegations from the police are that Dennis, who is an auditor at the Tax Office in Spanish Town, attacked a woman whom he had an intimate relationship with.
The police officer, who was in the company of the woman at the time when she was attacked by Dennis, intervened but was also attacked receiving stab wounds, the report stated.
In an effort to stave off his attacker, the officer discharged his service pistol and “fired once” hitting Dennis who was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where we was pronounced dead.
However irate residents turned their fury on the police officer whose personal vehicle was damaged while he sought safe haven in a shop until assistance came from officers attached to the Old Harbour Police Station.
Residents have refuted the police's version of the unfortunate tragedy, arguing that the police acted unprofessional. They are claimed that Dennis and his girlfriend were in a physical tussle when the cop accosted the deceased and shot him.
Investigation continues.
