JPS announces 12-hour outage for St Catherine and Clarendon
According to a Jamaica Public Service advisory the disruption in power supply will impact comminutes as far as Point Hill, Bellas Gate, and Kentish, as well as sections of Palmer’s Cross, May Pen.
This means tens of thousands of JPS customers will be affected between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, stated the light and power company.
In notifying its customers about the planned outage, the JPS stated: “Reliable power supply is as important to us at JPS as it is to you.
“Our team will be carrying out important maintenance work on the power lines in your area, as part of our effort to reduce the frequency and duration of power outages. This work will include vegetation clearance and the replacement of equipment on major lines serving you.
“This work will require a temporary outage so that members can work safely . we know this will cause you some inconvenience, but we will do everything we can to get your power back on within the time scheduled.”
Affected customers are therefore being urged to ensure sufficient water is stored, and to bring forward certain daily tasks such as washing, ironing, cleaning and cooking to minimize the effect of the outrage during the period.
Communities to be affected are: Amity Hall, Gutters, Bushy Park, Spring Village, Jaun de Bolas, Kentish, Browns Hall, Church Pen, Marlie Mount, Old Harbour, Old Harbour Bay, Longville Park, sections of Palmer’s Cross, Bannister, New Harbour Village I, II, III, IV, Colbeck Manor, Villages of Colbeck, Bartons, and all roads leading off.
