Man hit by BMW at Gutters rush to hospital
The accident occurred at Gutters, St Catherine about 6:20 pm this evening.
According to various eyewitness accounts the man only known as ‘Soljie’ or ‘Wanga’ of a Spring Village address was crossing the busy intersection during rush hour traffic when he was hoisted by the luxury car coming from Old Harbour direction. He fell atop the windscreen before rolling to the ground.
The injured man was bleeding when Old Harbour News arrived at the scene and was placed in a taxi and rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a search is on for a gun belonging to the injured man who is said to be a licensed firearm holder.
The Old Harbour police said they have been made aware of the incident and had dispatched a team to the scene.
The male driver of the motor vehicle is said to be from the surrounding area as well.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, residents from the area are repeating calls for the urgent installation of traffic lights, which has been mooted by the St Catherine Municipal Corporation.
The area is the scene of many accidents especially during peak hour.
