In 2013 he was charged with murder committed in Old Harbour but was acquitted before the courts, the police informed Old Harbour News. A few years later he was accused of brandishing an illegal gun at a man during an argument regarding a car deal that fell through. The investigation into the matter died a natural death due to insufficient evidence, said the police.

News of Shaw’s death caught locals by surprise given his absence from the area for so many years.

About 7:40 pm Tuesday, Shaw’s body was found in an open lot on Marlie Avenue with wounds consistent with those caused by gunshots.

A white Honda Stream motor car was seen speeding away from the scene where Shaw was found lying face down on the ground.

While a motive is yet to be established, the police are of the opinion that he was killed by persons known to him.
