Man, wanted for killing stepson, charged after turning in himself
Fifty-three year-old mechanic Conroy Johnson was taken into police custody last week Tuesday (January 24, 2023) after turning up with an attorney.
The Linstead resident was listed by the police as wanted for murder after he shot and killed 27-year-old fruit vendor Clayton Turner, who is the son of his common-law-wife.
According to the police, Johnson, alias ‘Chroma’, and his fiancé had a dispute in the district of Roadside, Mount Rosser, Ewarton, when he brandished a gun. It was at this point Turner intervened and was shot twice by Johnson, who fled the scene immediately after.
A police manhunt was assembled in search of Johnson, who went incognito for days until he resurfaced last Tuesday in the company of an attorney.
Following a question and answer session in front his lawyer, Johnson was charged with murder, assualt at common law, possession of illegal firearm and ammunition, among other charges.
A court date is being arranged.
