The curfew hours for Old Harbour Bay have been shortened once again, following an announcement by ASP Romario Rankin, commander of the Old Harbour Police subdivision.

The updated curfew will now run from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am daily until further notice. The decision was announced last evening after ASP Rankin and his team conducted a walkthrough of the community, aimed at reinforcing public confidence.

Speaking with Old Harbour News, ASP Rankin clarified that while social events will still be allowed in some areas, restrictions will remain in neighborhoods where security concerns persist.

“The curfew is now at 10:00 pm, but they will be allowed to keep their social events; it’s just that certain areas will not be permitted. Certain areas where we still have problems will not be permitted to have social gatherings,” he explained.

For over a month, Old Harbour Bay has been under heightened security measures in response to a surge in criminal activities and public unrest following several controversial police-involved shootings. The strict curfew had severely impacted local businesses, disrupting livelihoods.

However, after a series of discussions between law enforcement, residents, and business owners, restrictions have been gradually relaxed. The latest adjustment signals a continued move toward normalcy for the community.
