The facility was closed today without any prior notice to the general public to complete emergency repairs to sections of the building.

Several patients, who turned up this morning to access health care services, were told by personnel on site to return the next day.

This left many persons disgruntled due to the state’s failure to advice the public in advance considering the repair works began over the weekend.

Residents were able to access services yesterday but it is understood that the staff had to do so in discomfort due to the unfinished work including painting.

A quick visit by the Old Harbour News team we observed a security guard marshaling the entrance of the facility, allowing access to staff and work crew only.

When Old Harbour News contacted the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), an official confirmed the closure of the facility before giving the assurance that it will be up and running to the public the following day.

The response from SERHA also put to bed speculation swirling that the facility was ordered closed by the St Catherine Health Department for breaches under the Public Health Act.
