Old Harbour man in critical condition after robber shot him in the head
Preliminary report from the police is that the injured man and his friend, both 20 years old, were pounced on by a lone gunman about 3:35 am as the two were returning from a wake in the neighbouring district of Bartons.
They were both in a motor car when the gunman attacked them, the police stated, however, the driver managed to escape the armed robbery.
Gunshots were then heard and following the summoning of the Old Harbour police, the victim was found along the Red Ground main road in the vicinity of Halstead Spring suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
The police have reported that $35,000 was removed from the vehicle, while during a search of the area detectives discovered a Glock magazine containing 16 9mm rounds.
Old Harbour News understands that the condition of the injured man is serious as he remains in the intensive care unit.
