The incident occurred during the early hours of May 16 in a community near the Old Harbour town centre, the police have confirmed with Old Harbour News.

It is reported that about 3:00 am on the day in question, a woman and her 15-year-old daughter were at their home when two men, both armed with guns, barged in on them.

The gunmen then took turns raping the mother but faced stern resistance from the daughter whose face was busted, as one of the gunmen used his gun to inflict blows to her forehead.

The bastards then robbed both females of their mobile phones and $4,000 cash before escaping.

A couple voice notes regarding the incident has since been making the rounds on Whatsapp but investigators say they are unable to verify all the details being purported in the digital audio message.

A team from the St Catherine South Police Division’s victim support unit has been assigned to the family to provide the necessary care and counselling following the traumatic experience.

Asked about the possibility of bringing these hoodlums to book, an investigator informed Old Harbour News that the police cannot say much at this time given the sensitive nature of the probe.

But the cop noted that several leads are being pursued with a view to make a quick arrest and charge the culprits.

In one of the voice notes, a woman was heard stating what is believed to be a description of the suspects, while urging persons, particularly other females, to be very vigilant.

Investigation continues.
