Maliik Clarke

The Old Harbour police have confirmed its first homicide in the subdivision following the discovery of a body in Amity Hall Wednesday.

Investigators have since opened a murder probe after the body of 19-year-old Makiik Clarke was spotted about midday by a passerby who alerted the police.

Detectives observed multiple gunshot wounds to Clarke’s upper body but are yet to established any clear motive behind the death of the Big Lane, Church Pen resident.

The deceased was formally identified last night at the morgue, 24 hours after his family filed an official missing person report at the Old Harbour Police Station.

Old Harbour News understands that Clarke, who had rented a vehicle Sunday , was last seen by relatives up to Tuesday evening but never returned home, which was very unusual of him. Concerns were further heightened among relatives throughout Wednesday when calls to Clarke’s mobile phone repeatedly went unanswered.

While all of this was happening, and unbeknownst to Clarke’s family at that moment, scene of crime detectives along with investigators from the Old Harbour CIB were busy searching for clues at Amity Hall.

The rented car was later recovered behind a bus stop in Innswood which suggest that Clarke was possibly led to Amity Hall before being murdered, according to one police theory.

The death of Clarke is the first murder of the new year, the same as the corresponding period for the St Catherine South Police subdivision which encompasses the entire southwest of the parish.

A total of four murders were recorded in January 2025 for the Old Harbour region according data shared with Old Harbour News.
