The Old Harbour police will await an autopsy report regarding the death of a woman in the unregulated settlement called Zion off South Street.

Police were called to a yard in the area sometime after 2:00 pm, August 21 where the nude body of a female was found inside a makeshift bathroom made of zinc.

The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Shannice Johnson, an unemployed mother of a five-year-old boy.

Based on investigations, the police believed that Johnson died of electrocution while bathing.

The body had burnt scars consistent with high-voltage electrical shocks, the police informed Old Harbour News.

This theory was further supported after a team from the Jamaica Public Service was called in by the police.

While conducting an inspection of the site the electrical experts discovered an illegal extraction connected to the power grid.

The said wire was entangled with the zinc of the bathroom and was highly charged when the JPS crew tested it.

Johnson’s death has been listed as undetermined, pending the outcome of the post mortem.

Meantime the police have dismissed as hearsay rumors swirling that Johnson was raped and murdered.

Investigation continues.
