Rape suspect in custody of Old Harbour police
This was confirmed by DSP Mark Harris, commander in charge of the police sub-division Old Harbour, who informed our news outlet that investigators have submitted DNA samples of the suspect with a view of corroborating evidentiary materials collected at several crime scenes where he’s implicated.
According to the Old Harbour police chief, the suspect was held about 1:00 am one day last week during an intelligence-driven police operation in the Darlington Drive area.
“He was picked up based on the description that we got from victims. We did a stake out in the area and that’s how we got him. And I must tell you that he was held shortly after trying to break into a woman’s house,” said DSP Harris.
The man remains a suspect as he’s yet to be charged and therefore his identity cannot be revealed at this moment.
Last month, the alleged serial rapist was linked to the rape and sexual assault of a 35-year-old mother and her 15-year-old daughter in Old Harbour.
The victims were inside their home where they were held at gun point by the suspect and another man, who the police continue to pursue.
The two took turns having their way with the mother, but met stern resistance from the daughter, who was left battered and had to seek medical attention after the horrific ordeal.
Over the last six months or more, the suspect has been fingered in a several crimes committed in the Old Harbour space such as burglary, rape and sexual assault.
He somehow managed to elude the police until his capture last week.
