Sections of Old Harbour without water – NWC

Both electrical and mechanical issues at the Colbeck, Bowers and Claremont facilities have caused engineers at the utility company to shut down operations in order to rectify the problem.

While normal service at the Bowers and Claremont facilities should be restored later this evening, the NWC said it is still assessing the situation at Colbeck.

In an advisory posted within the last hour the company stated: “The National Water Commission wishes to advise that operations at the Colbeck pump station in St Catherine have been halted due to an electro- mechanical problem.

“The NWC team is currently assessing the extent of the damage to further advise the public on the possible restoration time.

“In addition, emergency pipeline repairs have necessitated the shutdown of the Bowers and Claremont facilities. This will result in water supply to a number of communities until 6:00 pm today, Sunday March 10, 2019.”

Areas being impacted are The Aviary, New Harbour Village, Planters Hall, Bois Content, Bowers Pen, Claremont Drive, sections of Old Harbour, Bowers Drive, Succaba Gardens, Bannister, Old Harbour Bay, Bodles and Rhone Park Estate.

The company has apologized to its affected customers for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.

It said the team of engineers is doing their best to restore regular supply as soon as possible.
