The suspect has been identified as Keemo Grant, 25, a labourer of Burke Road, Old Harbour.

Grant was formally charged on Tuesday with shooting with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition after being positively identified by a witness during an identification parade.

He was nabbed by senior officers assigned to the Old Harbour Police Sub-Division in the Cockpit community of Salt River, Clarendon on October 12.

The charges are all in relation to the September 1 attempted robbery at an establishment on Darlington Drive which resulted in the death of one of the three robbers. It is alleged that Grant was among the trio of armed robbers who were challenged by a licensed firearm holder. During the shootout, one of the robbers Troy ‘Bomb’ Nembhard, 18, from a section of Burke Road called ‘Africa’, was shot dead.

Since the shooting the police have launched a manhunt for the other two suspects, with investigations eventually leading to the arrest of Grant, who was sitting inside a bus stop when he was accosted by officers at about noon.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on November 1.

A manhunt is still on for the other suspect implicated in the said incident.
