This is due to an induced trough associated with the passage of Tropical Storm Fred.

Tropical Storm Fred is traveling northwest of Jamaica and will directly impact the islands of Hispaniola and Cuba.

As a result the Met Service is forecasting showers and thunderstorms that could start impacting sections of eastern and central parishes on Thursday night.

By Friday widespread showers and thunderstorm conditions will impact most of Jamaica.

Latest data from the National Hurricane Center pins the centre of Tropical Storm Fred near the southern coast of the Dominican Republic with winds of 75km/h. The system poses no direct threat to Jamaica at this time.
