TS Grace to dump 4-6 inches of rain on Jamaica

This as Tropical Depression Grace is currently bearing down on the earthquake ravaged nation of Haiti and will slither its way north of Jamaica and south of the island of Cuba.

It says rainfall amounts could reach 100-150mm (4-6in), generating flash floods and possible landslides across the island.

Jamaica has been placed under a Tropical Storm Watch as the island is expected to experience tropical storm conditions within the next 48 hours.

In its latest bulletin issued five o’clock this evening, the weather observatory said the centre of the cyclone, which is likely to be upgraded given favourable conditions at the moment, was pinned 250 miles east of Morant Point as at 4:00 pm today.

It is anticipated that several low-lying areas will experience flooding while residents in these communities are being advised to seek higher ground from early or prepare to evacuate should flooding occurs.
