Two killed on Good Friday in Old Harbour

The first incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Smith Avenue, where a police team reportedly engaged a man identified as Oshane Rowe, also known as ‘Daddy One’ or ‘Gum.’ According to law enforcement, Rowe, believed to be about 30 years old, was fatally shot after allegedly attacking the officers. An illegal firearm was recovered at the scene. 

Hours later, at approximately 5:30 a.m., another fatal shooting took place in the Terminal area of Old Harbour Bay during a joint police-military operation. The deceased, a young man only identified so far as ‘Timoy,’ about 20 years old, was shot after what authorities described as an armed confrontation. A 9mm Browning pistol with a magazine containing seven rounds was reportedly seized following the incident. 

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has stated that in both cases, its personnel acted in response to threats posed by armed individuals. However, details surrounding the circumstances of the shootings remain unclear, prompting INDECOM to launch investigations into the incidents. 

Residents in the affected communities have expressed shock and concern over the deadly encounters, with some calling for greater transparency in police operations. INDECOM has urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as they work to determine the full sequence of events. 

These latest shootings add to ongoing discussions about crime and policing strategies in St. Catherine, where fatal confrontations between security forces and alleged gunmen have been a recurring issue.
