Closed circuit television camera (CCTV) footage, provided by the police, showed three men breaking into the popular store situated at 5 South Street, Old Harbour after three o’clock in the early morning.

The men used a giant bolt cutter to remove the padlocks and gained entry into the building before removing numerous electronic items such as mobile phones, laptops and tablets.

Rohit Gangwani, proprietor, estimated the total value of all the items stolen at approximately $3.5 million.

The Indian native said it was the first time his store has been robbed since leaving Mumbai years ago to operate his business in Jamaica.

He said he intends to meet with other shop owners on the plaza to discuss and hopefully implement appropriate security measures.

It’s not the first time shops on this plaza have been targeted by hoodlums. In May of last year thieves burglarized a hardware and a shop on the same premises, making off with cash and items in excess of $2 million.

No arrest has been made to date.
