A woman remains in police custody and is expected to be formally charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of her child's father early Thursday morning in the Island Farm community.

The deceased has been identified as Fitzroy Williams, a 64-year-old taxi driver who operated the Old Harbour to Spring Village route.

According to preliminary information, about 12:30 a.m., an altercation escalated when Williams, who also lived in the Island Farm district, visited the home of the mother of his child in the same community. A knife came into play during the struggle, and Williams was reportedly stabbed twice.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In an update to Old Harbour News, DSP Romario Rankin, commander in charge of the police subdivision of Old Harbour, confirmed that the accused turned herself in at the station with her attorney in the afternoon.

"The investigators are still collecting statements after which she will be formally charged," Rankin said.

The circumstances leading up to the deadly incident remain unclear, and investigators have not yet determined what sparked the altercation.

As news of Williams' death spread, many persons on social media described him as a "humble man" who did not deserve to die in such a manner.

Investigations are ongoing.
