Infrastructural damage disrupts Flow services in Spanish Town, Old Harbour

  • Feb 28, 2025 10:41 AM | Top News, News

For the past 24 hours thousands of Flow customers have seen services to their landline, internet and cable totally disrupted, to much consternation.

However, in an advisory moments ago, the country’s largest telecommunications service provider, says the prolonged disruption is “due to accidental damage to our infrastructure by the JPS [Jamaica Public Service]”.

The silver lining here is that data services have remained functional, meaning customers still have access to the internet through mobile data.

Flow did not indicate a restoration timeline but advised customers that “our technical team is working to restore services as quickly as possible”.

Accompanying its advisory, Flow showed images of a freshly planted light post and a damaged cable to highlight the gravity of the situation.

One technical expert, who spoke with Old Harbour News, says such infrastructural damage usually take roughly less than a day’s work to complete and therefore anticipates restoration of service by this evening.
