He has been identified as Malik Wilson otherwise called ‘Chad’, a labourer from a section of the community known as Rock Stone.

According to the police the facts gleaned so far are that about 7:45 am Wilson was amongst a group of men standing along the roadway in Rock Stone when he was shot multiple times by a lone gunman.

Based on eyewitness account, a silver Probox with a red licence plate drove past the group of men before stopping a few metres farther. One man disembarked from the vehicle and proceeded towards the group of men. The man, it is said, acknowledged the presence of the group as he walked past them before turning around suddenly and open gunfire at Wilson.

In a bid to escape Wilson was shot in the back and fell to the ground.

The Old Harbour police were summoned to the area following which Wilson was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

Wilson’s death comes 15 months after his 32-year-old brother Mark ‘Pete’ Harrdon, who is a farmer, was gunned down in the community.

It is believed that Harrdon’s death stemmed from a feud involving Wilson and other men. Allegations are that the young farmer was targeted after Wilson’s enemies could not get to him.

More than a year later, Wilson was cut down in a hail of bullets despite a state of emergency (SOE) being enforced for the entire parish of St Catherine at this moment.

It’s an indication of how desperate and determined his enemies wanted to kill him.

Investigations are ongoing.
