Dead is Julio Groves, a 31-year-old labourer of North Street, Old Harbour, the police have confirmed.
Officers from the Old Harbour Police Station responded to a call from citizens after loud explosions were heard along the hip strip in the vicinity of a popular adult night club.
Moments later Groves, also known as ‘Ully’ or 'Alex', was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The incident occurred about 10:30 pm, said the police.
Investigators are yet to determine a motive behind the death of Groves, but are looking into all possible leads that may lead to a swift breakthrough into yet another murder, the second of such crimes to be committed in the Old Harbour space within the last 24 hours.
