Police release identity of man killed on West Street, Old Harbour
Dead is 31-year-old Kemar Cameron, otherwise called ‘Pony’ of a Spring Village address.
According the official report from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, about 5:30 pm Cameron was walking along the busy roadway when he was approached by a lone gunman on foot. The killer then opened gunfire at Cameron, hitting him multiple times on the upper body.
Police officers were alerted to the scene and the body removed to the Spanish Town Hospital where it was formally passed as dead by a doctor on staff.
The deadly shooting forced a pile-up of traffic during Saturday’s peak hour, with motorists forced to use alternate routes.
Detectives removed 11 spent casings from the scene of the crime, among other evidentiary materials which will now form the base of their probe into the possibilities that led to Cameron being killed.
Investigation continues.
