Fire destroys Harbour Master Auto Supplies
Firefighters responded to a call about 3:50 am about a premises heavily engulfed.
It took three units from the Old Harbour and Spanish Town fire stations and some 15 firefighters to extinguish the blaze and bring the situation under control.
Videos circulating on social media showed persons standing near the front of the premises observing the raging inferno, while huge plumes of thick smoke stretched miles into the night’s sky.
The entire structure, constructed primarily of board and zinc, and all its contents were totally destroyed.
There are no reports of any injuries sustain by any person.
A damage assessment is currently being calculated but the estimate will likely reach in the hundreds of millions of dollars given the size of the establishment which has been operating in the community for more than 15 years.
It is unclear if the business was insured.
