Police probe murder of Old Harbour taxi man

Detectives assigned to the Old Harbour CIB have opened a probe into the murder of a taxi man last Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Lambert Simpson, 51 years old, taxi driver who plies the Bannister to Old Harbour route.

According to preliminary investigation about 10:30 pm, Simpson had just arrived at his home in Lennonsville, Old Harbour when he was pounced upon by two armed men who shot him multiple times.

He died on the spot.

The gunmen then drove away his vehicle, a grey Toyota Probox motor car, which was later found abandoned along the Lennonsville Road with a bullet hole in the rear windscreen.

A motive is yet to be established. 

However, scenes of crime detectives are banking on the retrieval of three spent casings and blood samples collected at the scene along with other information received so far that could lead to an early breakthrough.
