Sunrise: May 20, 1936 – Sunset: January 31, 2026
The family of Gertrude Celestine Grant announces with heavy hearts, yet with the peace that comes from a life well-lived in faith, her peaceful passing on January 31, 2026, at the age of 89. She was a cherished resident of 52 East Street, Old Harbour, St. Catherine, and her home was a beacon of love and warmth for all who knew her.
Gertrude was the heart of her family, a nurturing matriarch whose legacy is carried on by her three loving children: Pauline Grant, Christopher Grant, and her adopted daughter, Karen Wynter. She took immense pride in her role as a grandmother, and her love blossomed through her four grandchildren: Marlon, Dwayne, Tasha, and Selvin. Her greatest joy was seeing her family grow, and she delighted in her six great-grandchildren: Tyhir, Junior, Lucien, Mya-Bella, Layth, and Aaleyah.
She is reunited in peace with her parents and siblings who have gone before her, and her memory will be forever treasured by her sister, Ena Hyatt; her brothers, Cecil (Sonny) Wynter and Andrew (Lloyd) Wynter; her sisters-in-law, Barbara and Pat; brother-in-law Israel Hyatt Sr, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and her extended church family. Her faith was her foundation, and she was a devoted member of her church community.
A service to celebrate her remarkable life and unwavering faith will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Old Harbour Seventh-day Adventist Church, 45 East Street, Old Harbour, St. Catherine. Interment: Thetford Park Cemetery, Church Pen, St. Catherine.
Prior to the funeral, a prayer meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the Old Harbour Seventh-day Adventist Church, starting 7:00 PM.
As the family navigates this period of profound loss, they draw comfort from the promise of the Resurrection. They invite you to hold them in your thoughts and prayers, asking for the Lord’s strength and peace to surround them during this time of grief.
