Happenstance is what got Timberwear principal Matthew Clarke in the business of customised frames. Here's the story in two stitches and a tack! Clark recounts there being a strong representation of the Rock-based fashion labels which specialise in sandals and swimwear; however, there wasn't a local tag among the countless number of frames. “That was the 'ah-ha' moment, “ Clarke divulged.

For the banker, the obvious solution was to fill the void. After experimenting with plastic and metal frames, the suggestion was made to create something more akin to Brand Jamaica; eg 'wooden frames from the Land of Wood and Water.'
