A female taxi driver operating the Old Harbour to Spring Village route sustained three broken ribs in a head-on collision last Wednesday, March 20, along Old Harbour Road near the Ahmadiyya mosque.

The injured driver, Oreta Pitterson, remains hospitalized but is expected to be discharged within the next two days.

Pitterson was driving her Toyota Probox eastbound when it collided with a grey Nissan AD Wagon in the right lane. According to preliminary reports from the Old Harbour police traffic unit, the male driver of the AD Wagon — who escaped unhurt — claimed Pitterson misjudged an overtaking attempt, leading to the crash. Pitterson, through a relative, is denying this version.

The police informed Old Harbour News that neither driver has yet provided formal statements, delaying the completion of the investigation.

A family member disclosed that Pitterson, though stable, will require continued recovery at home after her release.

The police are urging witnesses or anyone with additional information to come forward as they work to determine liability. Road safety advocates have reiterated calls for caution on the busy Old Harbour corridor, where overtaking errors frequently contribute to accidents.
