Several persons of interests were this morning detained following a major para-military operation in Old Harbour.

However, members of the security forces are unwilling to divulge the names of the individuals now in police custody, citing investigative protocols.

Old Harbour News understands that the pre-dawn operation targeted the Succaba area and surrounding enclaves and lasted a few hours.

It was initially rumored that an illegal weapon was recovered during the operation but one senior investigator told the local news outlet that this was false.

The senior cop added that formal charges are yet to be laid against any of the men brought in but this could change pending further probe.

Over the last few weeks the police, with support of the army, have intensified its operation targeting criminal networks across the country.

The Succaba area is also interconnected with other communities including Panton Lane where popular TikToker Xavier Fogah, alias Niah Gang, was shot dead during a live broadcast on the prominent social media platform.

Just over a week ago the St. Catherine North Special Operations team, in collaboration with the Area 5 Fugitive Apprehension team and the St. Catherine South Special Operations unit, conducted a series of targeted operations in Spanish Town.

The operation was in response to recent violent incidents within the area, the JCF stated.

“As the festive season approaches, the JCF will maintain increased vigilance and operational intensity to ensure public safety and disrupt criminal activities,” it added.
