The Type 1 facility was built at a cost of $25 million, with funding by Kemtek Development & Constructions Limited and Omni Industries Limited.

The building was designed by the National Health Fund (NHF) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

The health centre is equipped with two examination lamps, two examination beds, one wheelchair, dressing tables, waiting area chairs, patient chairs and other items/equipment.

Residents can access services including: maternal and child health, dressing, immunization, family planning and curative-once a month by visiting a doctor.

The health ministry said over 4,000 residents including those from the adjoining communities of Macka Tree, Marlie Hill, Belfield and Blue Hole will benefit directly from the range of services on offer.

“It is a partnership of half a dozen critical stakeholders that has made this health centre possible. With a vision, with commitment and with the willingness to work with others, there is a lot of good that can be done for people in communities, and this is a good example of it,” said Dr. Christopher Tufton, health and wellness minister and member of parliament of St Catherine West Central of which Brown’s Hall is a part of.

Approximately 14 medical personnel will be employed at the facility, inclusive of a resident midwife, a visiting doctor and public health nurse, six community health aides, and other personnel.

Regional director at the ministry, Maureen Golding, said: “This facility is an important centre and will have a far-reaching and tremendous impact on the health and wellness of the citizens in these environs.”

The health centre opening hours are from Mondays to Fridays 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
