The free event is scheduled for September 28 between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

The event is called ‘Learn about Islam,’” said Tariq Azeem, head missionary of the community in Jamaica which has branches in Trelawny and Kingston in addition to its Old Harbour headquarters.

The aim of this programme is to remove misconceptions regarding Islamic faith.”

Despite over 1.6 billion followers worldwide, Islam is “still one of the most misunderstood faiths” the community noted.

“Mistakenly, people have come to associate Islam with extremism and violence. However, Islam is a religion of peace,” Azeem said. “Ahmadiyya Muslim community is a living proof of this fact. We preach love for humanity; and we try to practice what we preach.”

Free public fora on various aspects of Islam have become a regular feature of the community’s work as they try to debunk myths and misconceptions about the religion.
