DAILY DEVOTION: Claiming abundance (The Problem)

And why not, his mom was a great cook. Imagine however DV coming home one day from football and seeing his favourite meal shared and covered on the table and nobody's home. He has no doubt who prepared it, also he knows that his mom loves him. He also knows that his mom knows his favourite meal. The "sad" reality is, there are other facts he needs to consider before he can dive in. Other people live in that home, for example, his dad. More than likely, mom would have taken this and set aside for dad. DV could waste the whole evening naming and claiming the abundance in dad's plate or he can realize that mom also has a plan for him. Her love for dad is a sign that she has a love for him too. The message then is, "Go claim your own, DV!" I wonder how many times we, as the church, look at promises that God has made to Israel and grab at it for ourselves, then get upset when it doesn't work out. God's word didn't lie. Like DV, you were yearning for dad's dinner.  Go get your own! When we start to claim, make sure the territory that we are claiming was promised to us, or there's going be a problem. God loves us and in Christ there is so much for us to have. The O.T. shows us a faithful promise keeping God Who continued to be faithful with Israel even when they were not. This we can embrace. But some things He said to them, we have to claim the general principle not the specific promise.

2 Cor. 1:20: For all the promises of God in Him (Christ) are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
