DAILY DEVOTION: Spending time with God (2)
Whenever they talk to you they are into vague, unconnected generalizations (the plunging price of peas in Persia - who cares!) Am I guilty of the same when I go before God for devotion? Are the events of the days before and after drawing my thoughts away from focusing on the Altogether Lovely God of the Universe? God deserves my time and focus. It is so unfair that He doesn't need me, yet He watches over me with such care and affection, yet I desperately need Him and yet I am so flippant with my time and focus with Him. I need to realise that God's time is God's time. He should fill my day! To cause this to happen, I must give Him His time. In this time, I must go to Him and listen carefully to His instructions, as I read His word. I must talk to Him from my heart, realising that the Maker and Ruler of the universe is listening to me. I must treasure this time dearly and guard it jealously. My time with God is precious. Starting with Him in the morning - that's good; but staying with Him all day - that's the goal.
Psalm 5:3: My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee and will look up.
Have a God-Time Tuesday!
