Kammaslick hopes to add new dancehall flavour
“It’s a mixture of old dancehall with a touch a Kammaslick. Different flows and different flavour. Just the style and how it is delivered will have people running with it. People will gravitate to my song because of the concepts I bring across, which is very relatable; and how it is brought across,” said the 23-year-old Old Harbour Mews resident following the release of his first official new track.
The former Denbigh High and Jose Marti Technical student speaks about being poor in his new song while at the same time touched on the importance staying grounded.
In an online chat with Old Harbour News Kammaslick, who currently is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in international relations at the University of the West Indies, said his delivery comes with a “different flavour”.
For example, my recent song ‘No Forget’, it talks about poverty or “broke life” but it brings across a different flavor. One weh yu know seh motivate people fi get up and go dig the streets. Caaz dem waa figet how poor feel… but at the same time u still afi memba the fight yu get before it all because every great achievement comes with a lot of fight."
Born Keith Hunt at birth, the deejay aspires to become an established name in the business, as he believes he can uplift and encourage persons through his music.
Once exams were done Kammaslick says he’s looking forward to doing a few gigs during the holidays.
