The winger was substituted in the 40th minute in Villa’s match versus Norwich City.
Villa defeated the visitors 2-0 to relegate the Canaries to the Championship next season.
After the game Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard said Bailey twisted his ankle and will likely miss their next game away to Burnley.
"He said there was a bit of a twist after the contact so we’ll get him looked at. He’s obviously going to be a major doubt for the next game against Burnley because it’s very rare that you come off the pitch and you’re available for the next game, so we are concerned about it,” Gerrard told the Birmingham Mail.
Bailey will undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage, as he returns to the treatment room yet again.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star continues to struggle with injuries and fitness since his move to England from Germany.
And it’s an annoyance that Gerrard, a legend of the modern Premier League era, fully understands.
“I’m really disappointed and frustrated for him because he’s worked really hard to get back, he’s been training ever so well,” said Gerrard.
"We wanted to give him another opportunity off the back of Leicester to really try and keep him in the rhythm. You see how he started the game he nearly scores with a fantastic effort and a top save from Tim Krul.
"Not too far after that he’s got to come off the pitch. He’s frustrated, we’re frustrated and I’m sure the supporters are as well.”
Bailey later shared on Instagram a picture of himself dribbling along with a purple heart caption. A purple heart is symbolic of a wounded soldier.
