Victory for Camperdown see them taking sole leadership of Zone A in the Southern Conference, as the east Kingston-based school maintained their 100% win record after three round of matches.
As anticipated the game between the two teams was a close battle throughout. The two sides are among the favourites to win the national crown and were inseparable at the end of the first quarter and half-time with the scores leveled 21-21.
The visitors managed a two-point lead (39-37) at the end of the third quarter with Marcus Higgs, who had a game high 19 points, leading their charge.
But the home side backed by a partisan crowd dominated the final quarter, as their overall team effort overcome Higgs’ talismanic display blemished somewhat by his seven turnovers.
Matthew McGowan was Camperdown’s leading light with 13 points.
Elsewhere in the zone, Ardenne recorded their first win of the new season by beating Meadowbrook 45-35 to ensure that the latter remain winless.
In under-16 action, Old Harbour won their first game at the third attempt when they defeated Camperdown 42-31 in the dress rehearsal to the U19 feature.
Jeremy Grant led Old Harbour’s victory with a game high 19 points and nine boards, while Jermaine Tulloch’s nine points was a team high for the losers.
Ardenne’s juniors also had their first win of the season, triumphing 72-17 over Meadowbrook.
